The razorback musk turtle, scientifically known as Sternotherus carinatus, is a species of freshwater turtle native to the southeastern United States. It is named for the prominent keel or "razorback" running along the center of its carapace (upper shell).

They are mainly carnivorous and feed on a diet consisting of aquatic insects, crustaceans, small fish, tadpoles, and other aquatic prey. In the wild, razorback musk turtles can live for several decades, often reaching 25-30 years of age or more.
