The Bosc monitor lizard, scientifically known as Varanus exanthematicus, is a species of monitor lizard native to the savannas and grasslands of sub-Saharan Africa. Savanna monitor lizards are relatively large reptiles, with adults typically reaching lengths between 2 to 4 feet (0.6 to 1.2 meters) or even larger in some cases.

They are generally solitary animals and are known for their relatively calm and docile demeanor compared to some other monitor lizard species. These lizards are opportunistic feeders and have a varied diet that includes insects, small vertebrates (such as rodents and birds), bird eggs, and even carrion.
